Program

We provide a program reflected with the principles, practices and outcomes from the Early Learning Years Framework, in order to extend and enrich children’s learning and support them in transitioning to school.

Our program considers the developmental needs and interests of each child to enable children to learn and grow. We recognise the importance of family and our primary focus is on the individual child within the context of their family.

Programs are based on play and current research on child development. The experiences and resources are provided to meet the needs of the individual child as well as the needs of the group. Our services’ program supports a cross-cultural and non-discriminatory environment. We encourage families to actively participate and spend time in the centre, share special cultural celebrations and skills and knowledge they have with the children at our service. We have an open door policy for all family members to be welcomed at all times the centre is open.

We believe in building positive partnerships with families and value the importance of assertive and open communication. It is important that families and educators build trusting, honest, respectful partnerships in order for us all to learn more about the child’s individual needs and interests. We will also communicate information through newsletters, information evenings, parent meetings, emails, special events and through the child’s portfolio of development.

Philosophy

We believe that each child is unique, with different needs and qualities. They are all individuals, and are precious gifts from God that need to be loved, valued, respected and cared for in an inclusive environment.

We believe in delivering a holistic, play based program which is flexible and aims to strengthen each child’s individual developmental needs and interests. When both sides of the brain are stimulated, amazing results can be accomplished.

We believe children grow and learn in a warm, homely and nurturing environment, with activities based on the home and garden, which gives the children a rich supply of natural materials. We believe children need the opportunity for practical experiences that help develop confidence and capabilities.

Working under the Early Years Learning Framework, we believe that we need to provide interest based programs to help children to achieve a sense of being, belonging and becoming.

We believe in the importance of being dedicated to creating a genuine love of learning for each child through cultural experiences in art, music, stories and interaction with nature. Through our encouragement and interactions as educators children will be inspired to learn and be ready for school.

We believe in modelling and adhering to health and safety standards focusing on hygiene, manual handling and risk assessment to ensure our service meets high standards for all stakeholders.

We believe children should be active participants in environmentally sustainable practices with a learning program that incorporates the importance of recycling, reusing and reducing rubbish.  Children learn positive dispositions and behaviours when they learn to respect and care for their environment and are hence empowered to look after their world.

We believe positive communication encourages and promotes positive behaviour. We believe in consistency, guidance and understanding in caring for children so that they are able to achieve their own successes, become confident and independent.

We believe a child’s environment needs to reflect beliefs and behaviours that are equitable, unbiased, non-sexist, and non-racial and should include multicultural value.  We believe all families should be encouraged to participate in children’s learning at a level they choose.

We believe policies and procedures should be implemented and reviewed to continue to enhance the wellness of children, families and staff and which brings excellence to the centre.

Our services policies and procedures cover a great deal of what we do within our service. This is a legal requirement of the national, state and local government laws and regulations and is designed this way to ensure consistent, safe and quality education and care for all children inclusively.

The policies are available in our entry foyer and you are welcome and invited to access and read these at any time. As a part of ensuring a quality service we invite all families throughout the year to be involved in the updating of our policies and procedures in order for the environment to reflect our community of stakeholders.
